Here are some tips when deciding on what kind of equipment to implement into your business security plan.

The Right Camera For The Job

Arcdyn IP Cameras come in a wide range of lenses, resolutions, and IR Light configurations. Choosing the right combination could determine whether or not you get a clear image when you need it most.

Lens Focal Length (mm)

Lenses with a smaller Focal length (i.e. 2.8mm) will have a wider angle of view, but objects will seem farther away and smaller. While a lens with a longer focal length (i.e. 12mm) will have a narrower field of view, but object will seem closer and more "zoomed" in.

Resolution

Our IP cameras all come in 2MP, 4MP, and 8MP resolutions. The higher the resolution the better the image, but it also means your footage will take up more space on your Hard Drive.

IR Lights

There are two main types of IR lights available on the market today. The other style is an array of usually 30-40 small Infrared lights that combine to illuminate the scene. The second and newer kind is what we call EXIR. This IR technology employs 1-3 High powered IR lamps. The result is a much brighter and more even distribution of light across the scene. This is especially important when trying to illuminate a large open area. Older IR technology will tend to only illuminate the center of the image and leave dark shadows in the corners.

Don't Run Out Of Space!

Hard Drive Space is an extremely important consideration when selecting your NVR Configuration. Always ensure you will have enough storage to keep and adequate amount of footage on hand. For most businesses this is 15-30 days, but some industries require upwards of 90 days or more depending on state and local regulations.

Integration Into Your Other Systems

Some Arcdyn NVRs are capable of integrating into existing POS systems. This helps you match up transactions with you recorded footage to prevent retail shrinkage. All of out Access Control systems can also be linked to our surveillance systems to trigger recordings and other kinds of events and alerts.
